Montpelier, Virginia · Incorporated 1937
Six ranges. One club. Nearly ninety years of marksmanship.
Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club has taught generations of Central Virginia shooters to handle firearms safely and effectively. Members shoot recreationally and competitively across six ranges, a sporting clays course, and a private lake.
NRA affiliate club no. 323
Safety first, for every generation that walks onto the range.
As an affiliate member of the National Rifle Association, the club promotes firearm safety at every level. Each year it hosts local youth groups, including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts — troops camp overnight on club grounds, fish the club's lake, and receive hands-on firearm safety instruction.
Facilities & grounds
Six shooting ranges, sporting clays, a primitive campground, and a fishing lake open to members.
Open to the public
Weekend competitive matches are open to the public unless a listing says otherwise.
Competition
Matches run most weekends, year-round.
High power and small bore silhouette, cowboy action, IDPA, USPSA, NRA 2700 pistol, 300-yard benchrest, and more — run by match directors across the club's calendar.
Membership
A private club, built on sponsorship.
Membership is capped by the Board of Directors and the current wait is more than two years. Applicants must be sponsored by a current member — attending public matches is the best way to meet one.
